This initiative emphasizes the influence of women in sports and inspires future generations of female athletes.

Multiple Phoenix Suns players, including guard Devin Booker, shared that his favorite female athlete is Diana Taurasi, a legend of the Phoenix Mercury who announced her retirement from the WNBA on Tuesday. Booker also mentioned, “Y’all know what it is.”

Phoenix Suns center Bol Bol stated that his favorite female athlete is Sue Bird, the Seattle Storm legend and best friend of Taurasi. He also mentioned that he never misses when he uses her in the NBA 2K video game.

Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant stated that his favorite female athlete is Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese.

Guard Damion Lee named Los Angeles Sparks forward Cameron Brink as his favorite athlete, mentioning her podcast, Straight to Cam, which she co-hosts with his wife, Sydel Curry-Lee.

Several Phoenix Suns players also mentioned former tennis player Serena Williams, who is part of the WNBA’s expansion team, the Toronto Tempo ownership group, alongside Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Minnesota Lynx legend Maya Moore, and Claressa Shields as their favorite female athletes.

As women’s sports continues to capture the spotlight—reflecting on its rich history, dynamic present, and promising future—the excitement and recognition surrounding the sport are on the rise.
