Palmer retired from professional football in 2017 after playing in the NFL for 15 seasons and was inducted into the Cardinals’ Ring of Honor in 2019 and the College Football Hall of Fame two years later.
“It’s just an elite club,” Palmer said. “The quarterback position is so challenging. All these guys had tremendous amounts of success playing the position.”
Palmer continued, “A lot of these guys that have come before me are guys I followed, grew up watching, grew up cheering for or cheering against if they were playing for my team.”
Reflecting on the magnitude of the honor, Palmer then shifted his focus to the deeply personal aspect of the night.
“It’s just a special night and opportunity,” Palmer said. “The fact that my kids get to see me go into the National Quarterback Hall of Fame, although they were around when I was playing, is incredible.”
He added, “For them to be here and experience this is special for our family.”
Steve Spurrier, renowned for his coaching success, was also honored. His contributions to the game have left an indelible mark on the sport.

“It’s the best position on the field,” McNabb asserted, reflecting on the quarterback’s unique role. “From an extension, from a coach being a leader of men on the football field, being in current situations, and having the confidence that everybody’s going to do their job, and they’re relying on you to do your job, to every be very successful at the end of it all.” His words encapsulated the essence of the quarterback’s responsibility and the weight of leadership.
