PHOENIX – Arizona State superstar running back Cam Skattebo talked on the PHNX Cardinals Podcast about his draft process, when he was asked about the Arizona Cardinals. Skattebo announced that he had an informal meeting with the Cardinals, and Arizona will be the first team he’ll meet with during the draft process.

It would be a dream come true for Arizona fans to have ASU’s star running back remain in the valley to play for the Cardinals. Arizona’s informal meeting with Skattebo showcases an extreme interest, wanting to meet with the star running back as soon as possible.

Halfback isn’t the Cardinals’ biggest draft need, as ESPN has signified that the team needs an edge rusher or defensive line help. However, Skattebo is expected to be a late day 2 or early day 3 prospect. The Cardinals have six draft picks:
- First round: No. 16 overall
- Second round: No. 47 overall
- Third round: No. 78 overall
- Fourth round: No. 114 overall
- Fifth round: No. 153 overall
- Seventh round: No. 227 overall
If the Cardinals were to draft Skattebo, it would be likely with their third or fourth pick.

During his draft evaluation, Skattebo has been compared to Arizona’s James Conner. Both are physical downhill runners that fit the mold of head coach Jonathon Gannon’s playstyle. Skattebo fits the mold of a player the Cardinals would want in their backfield, but only time will tell to see if they pull the trigger.
