In a recent interview with Overtime, five-time All-Star Luka Dončić was asked which college he would have attended if he had played in the United States. To the surprise of many, the 25-year-old Slovenian star chose the University of Arizona.

Dončić admitted that his choice was influenced by word of mouth, saying, “From what I’ve heard, it is good there.”

The University of Arizona’s athletics account humorously responded on social media, pointing out that Dončić still has four years of college eligibility remaining.

In another timeline, Dončić could have suited up for an Arizona-based team professionally, as the Phoenix Suns had the opportunity to draft him with the first overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Instead, the Suns selected Deandre Ayton, leaving Dončić to be picked third overall by the Atlanta Hawks before being traded to the Mavericks.

Since then, the Suns have frequently faced the challenge of defending Dončić. Over 19 games against Phoenix, the future Hall of Famer has averaged an impressive 28.2 points per game, often making life difficult for the team that passed on him.
