Alek Thomas was set to begin a slate of rehab games with the Diamondbacks’ Triple-A affiliate. Thomas was not in the lineup and did not play in Reno’s 3-2 loss to Salt Lake.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Theo Mackie of the Arizona Republic reports that the Diamondbacks have paused Thomas’ rehab with general soreness. Diamondbacks manager Lovullo told Mackie nothing is alarming, as they’re looking to evaluate this soreness before pushing him further. Lovullo hinted at the possibility of imaging on the hamstring as part of the evaluation but remains optimistic that Thomas can get into rehab games with Reno later this week.
Lovullo said: "Nothing that's alarming. I think there's just normal general soreness that we're trying to evaluate before we push through to the next level."
But he also said there's a possibility Thomas will get more imaging on his hamstring this week.

The Diamondbacks have been without Thomas since March 31, when he strained his left hamstring attempting to beat out a double play ball. He was on track to return as early as May 7, playing three rehab games with Reno, but was shut down after complaining of soreness with the hamstring. He played three rehab games with the complex league affiliate last week.
In Thomas’ absence, the Diamondbacks have gotten strong play from fellow outfielder Jake McCarthy. In 63 games, McCarthy is hitting .287 with three home runs, and a .784 OPS. His .370 on-base percentage has been a huge asset at the bottom of the Diamondbacks lineup, allowing them to put consistent pressure on pitchers. It’s a big reason why they’ve won 10 of their 15 games in the month of June.
