Currently ranked as Arizona’s #2 prospect, Troy had posted a .173 batting average with the Double-A Hillsboro Hops before being placed on the IL. He made his first rehab start against the ACL Dodgers on June 18, going 0-3 at the plate with a strikeout.

In other Diamondbacks’ minor league news, right-handed pitchers Jacob Steinmetz and Yordin Chalas have been promoted to the Hillsboro Hops.

Steinmetz was drafted in the third round of the 2021 MLB draft by the Diamondbacks. He posted a 3.30 ERA across 10 starts with the Visalia Rawhide this season. The 20-year-old started May with 10.1 consecutive shutout innings, including 10 strikeouts in that span. During his first start with the Hops on Tuesday, Steinmetz allowed two earned runs on three walks and no hits, securing just two outs before being pulled in the first inning.

Yordin Chalas, signed to a minor league deal by the Diamondbacks in 2023, is a 20-year-old prospect from the Dominican Republic. He posted a 3.18 ERA with the Rawhide in 2024, striking out 33 batters in 22.2 innings out of the bullpen before his promotion. Chalas is expected to make his debut with the Hops later this week.

Neither pitcher is ranked on the Diamondbacks’ top-100 prospect list.
