The Timberwolves now find themselves on the wrong side of a blowout loss to the Mavericks, who advanced to their first NBA Finals since 2011 with the win. Edwards had 28 points, nine rebounds and six assists in the loss.
Luka Doncic scorched both teams in their own buildings, as he outscored the Timberwolves 20-18 alone in the first quarter, bringing flashbacks to when he matched the Suns’ 27 halftime points in 2022. Doncic, who was named the Western Conference finals MVP, ended with 36 points, 10 rebounds and five assists tonight and advanced to his first NBA Finals. Two years ago, he recorded 35 points, 10 rebounds and four assists against Phoenix.
The Timberwolves were down 29 at halftime tonight (69-40), while the Mavericks led the Suns by 30 (57-27) at the half and eventually won 123-90 in 2022. After beating Phoenix, Dallas would be defeated 4-1 by the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference finals.
