Anthony Edwards has given the Suns plenty of ‘bulletin board material’ over the years

Some old videos of Anthony Edwards talking about the Phoenix Suns have resurfaced ahead of the Minnesota Timberwolves playing the Suns in the first round of the playoffs.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

The first video is from the 2022 playoffs when Edwards posted a video on his Instagram story talking smack about the Suns being blown out by the Dallas Mavericks in Game 7 of the second round.

“I remember we was playing Phoenix, and they was talking so much s—,” Edwards said in the video. “Telling us we need to make the playoffs, we better make the playoffs, we ain’t going to make the playoffs. We out of the playoffs, but y’all this is a disgrace, bruh. Y’all got 36 points in the third quarter. This is terrible.”

Phoenix lost this game 123-90 in what is arguably the worst loss in franchise history, as the Suns entered the playoffs as the No. 1 seed after posting the best record the franchise has ever seen. Edwards and the Timberwolves were the No. 7 seed in this playoffs and lost 4-2 in the first round to the No. 2 Memphis Grizzlies. Edwards was by far not the only person making fun of the Suns for how bad they lost.

The other video that is going around and has been for a while is when Edwards was discussing potential playoff matchups for the Timberwolves last season around the trade deadline, just a week or two after Kevin Durant got traded to the Suns.

A short clip has been taken for the comedic value out of this when Edwards said: “They got KD, but we got Jaden McDaniels,” when referencing the Suns.

The full quote is: “They got KD, but we got Jaden McDaniels, who can guard him. We here for it, man. We young, me and Jaden, majority of our team is young. We got a couple of older guys, but we ready to go against anybody.”

Durant averaged 22.7 points on 61/44/100 splits, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists in three games against the Timberwolves this season.

Edwards also got in a dust-up with Bradley Beal in the Suns’ 125-106 win over the Wolves yesterday, but Beal said after the game that everything was all good between him and Edwards.

The playoffs are a completely different ballgame than the regular season, but that’s not to say the Suns have not dominated Edwards and the Timberwolves in the regular season the last few seasons.

The 22-year-old Edwards is 2-11 in his career against the Suns. Phoenix swept the season series 3-0 over the Timberwolves this year and never led by less than double digits in the second half of any of these three games.

Edwards, who averaged 25.9 points per game this season on 46.1% shooting, only averaged 14.3 points on 31% shooting in the three games against the Suns this year.

“Those games (are) over with,” Edwards said postgame yesterday. “It’s a whole different game now. The refs can’t call those fouls that (they’ve been) calling.”

As mentioned before, these numbers don’t mean anything when it comes to the playoffs, as Suns’ fans saw when Luka Doncic and the Mavs beat them in the video Edwards posted. The Suns had a ton of regular season success over Doncic and Dallas, but it did not matter in that playoff series.

Another example regarding the Suns is in 2021 when the Lakers were coming off an NBA championship, yet a Suns’ team that hadn’t been in the playoffs since 2010 beat them 4-2 in the first round.

If Edwards wants to end these bad stats and lay these videos to rest, he can do so by coming out strong in the first round.
