Diana Taurasi’s 20th season in the WNBA is underway, and at 41-years-old, it’s unclear how much time Taurasi has left in the league. However, Taurasi has had a storied career in Phoenix, and will be a surefire Hall of Famer and Ring of Honor member when it’s all said and done.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Taurasi is the WNBA’s all-time leading scorer, and is a three-time champion. There’s not much more that Taurasi has left to prove, but as the Mercury enter a new era, her new teammates understand the importance of continuing her legacy.

“When we talk about culture, [Diana] was 4-for-15. Didn’t matter what kind of shooting night she was having – every timeout, every missed shot… constantly encouraging in the timeouts, very vocal, she wants to win,” Mercury guard Kahleah Copper said. “Like I said before, [Diana] probably has more basketball behind her than in front of her, so it’s our job to continue to add to her legacy. And what we want to do is win. We want her to go out, whenever that is, with a bang.”
This new-look Mercury team has shown promise early on in the season, and the goal to compete at a high level remains. Although Taurasi may not have much more left to prove to the general eye, she continues to try and prove herself to the Mercury organization, and herself.
“I treat every training camp like it’s my last, and like my first,” said Diana Taurasi ahead of the WNBA season. “I go in there with the same expectation of trying to prove myself to my teammates, my coaches, to myself.”
Through two games, Taurasi is averaging 19 points and five rebounds on 41% from the field and 42% from beyond the arc. As she still looks to compete late in her career, her teammates are looking to compete for her.
