The Colts (17-6) have now won three straight and 10 of their last 12 games.
Casteel is coming off a dominating season where the team finished with a 27-6 record and was crowned as 5A Champions following a victory over Catalina Foothills.
They have now continued that success into this season and are looking to repeat as champs.
Defeating the Huskies (19-5), who currently rank as the number one high school baseball team in Arizona according to MaxPreps, further shows how dominant of a team Casteel is. The Colts are ranked as the No. 1 team in the 5A and the No. 4 team in the state.
After trailing Hamilton 6-1 following the first two innings, Casteel put together a six-run third inning and took back the lead. The two teams then entered extra innings tied up 9-9, before the Colts scored four runs and iced the game.
Senior outfielder Tyler Russell hit a grand slam, putting his team up over the Huskies. Seniors pitchers Tyler Hatch and Mason Russell have combined for an 8-2 record when starting this season.
In the first of the team’s final regular season three-game stretch, Casteel will travel to face the Williams Field Black Hawks (13-10). The game will take place on Thursday, April 18 at 3:45 p.m. MST.
The Colts are looking to extend their win streak and finish the season off strong before heading into the 5A conference playoffs.
