Four players the Arizona Cardinals should consider signing during the second wave of free agency

While dozens of free-agent signings have been announced this week, a multitude of talent remains available for the Arizona Cardinals.

Here are a few available players that fit the current needs of general manager Monti Ossenfort and the Cardinals:

Devin White, Linebacker

Through five seasons, Devin White has filled up stat sheets like none other. Since being drafted fifth overall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019, the LSU product has totaled 566 tackles, 23 sacks, 64 QB hits, three interceptions, and 21 pass deflections.

He also helped lead a championship-winning defense and picked off Patrick Mahomes during Super Bowl 55.

While the counting stats have been exceptional, White has struggled greatly with consistency over the last few seasons. Regardless, he would be a huge upgrade to a feeble Arizona linebacker room and would immediately become the team’s most dynamic defensive player.

Tampa Bay may push to bring their All-Pro LB back, but the Cardinals have the cap space to give White an offer he cannot turn down.

Cardinals to add third free agency reinforcement, DL Justin Jones

Steven Nelson, Cornerback

Veteran CB Steven Nelson has earned himself yet another contract after an impressive 2023 season with the Texans.

In 17 regular-season games played, Nelson finished with four interceptions, 12 pass deflections, and 63 tackles. He played 95% of all defensive snaps for DeMeco Ryans’ defense last season.

Additionally, the 31-year-old made a huge play in Houston’s postseason upset win against the Cleveland Browns.

The Cardinals are in desperate need of cornerback help. They did sign former Bucs CB Sean Murphy-Butning to a three-year deal. The team still lacks depth and reliability at the position.

Head coach Jonathan Gannon is familiar with Nelson from his time in Philadelphia and can now reunite with the versatile and speedy defensive back.

Tyler Boyd, Wide Receiver

Arizona’s wide receiver group stands as one of the youngest in the league. Michael Wilson, Rondale Moore, Greg Dortch, and Zach Pascal highlight the inexperienced core.

Marquise Brown is currently a free agent.

Boyd would come in and become the team’s most reliable wide receiver right away. He has solidified himself as one of the premier pure slot targets in the league, despite being behind both Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins over the last few seasons.

The Cardinals can bring in a trustworthy veteran for Kyler Murray alongside Marvin Harrison Jr./Malik Nabers with the fourth-overall pick.

Boyd will not command elite receiver money and stands as arguably the best available receiver in the market outside of Brown.

Kevin Zeitler, Guard

34-year-old Kevin Zeitler remains as a starting-caliber guard after 12 seasons in the league.

Zeitler has been a reliable, every-snap player for the entirety of his NFL career. The former first-round pick now has an opportunity to secure one of his final contracts.

He was graded as one of the top pass-blocking guards in the league and would fit Arizona like a glove. The veteran has experience playing with dual-threat QBs during his most recent time in Baltimore with Lamar Jackson.

The Cardinals should be all over this in order to protect their franchise QB. Guards have been getting paid generously this offseason so the signing will come at a relatively hefty price.
