Devin Booker ties career high in 3-pointers made for 25th time

Last night, the Phoenix Suns were up 106-100 over the Houston Rockets with just under a minute to go, and the ball was right where they wanted it: in Devin Booker’s hands to ice the game.

The only problem? Booker had made six 3s prior to this. He put up a 3-pointer, and it was no good. All time, Booker is now an astounding 0-for-37 from deep when he has six made 3s in the regular season.

The Suns (35-24) still ended up winning 110-105 over the Rockets (24-35) behind Booker’s 35 points and seven rebounds, but this stat is mind boggling. Booker finished the game tying his career high in 3-pointers with six for the 25th time of his career and fourth this season.

Booker is very aware of this.

“I did know that,” Booker said postgame last night. “That’s why I put up that last one.”

Booker finished shooting 6-for-11 from deep after going 5-for-6 from 3-point range in the first half.

This stat does not translate to the playoffs, as Booker has three games of seven or more 3s in the postseason. His career high in the playoffs is eight in the Suns’ Game 6 closeout victory in the first round over the Lakers during Phoenix’s 2021 NBA Finals run. Booker had 47 points in this game.

“It’s happened in the playoffs, so I’ll take it then,” Booker said.

This might be one of the weirdest stats in the NBA. Will Booker ever overcome this apparent curse?
