Fresh off a trip to the World Series, Diamondbacks owner Ken Kendrick stirred controversy with his recent remarks regarding the team’s potential relocation.

Kendrick’s comments were prompted by the lack of progress in securing a new stadium deal, as the current agreement with Chase Field is slated to expire at the end of the 2027 season.

Addressing the widespread interest from cities vying for an MLB team, whether new or existing, Kendrick’s statement resonated strongly: “There are opportunities available … It’s not where we are spending time or energy. We may run out of time in Phoenix. We hope that won’t happen.”

While some interpreted this as a strategic move to pressure Phoenix into reaching a deal, others expressed frustration on social media platforms.

It’s worth noting that Kendrick has been instrumental in the Diamondbacks’ aggressive spending this offseason, resulting in the team reaching its highest salary cap in franchise history.

Key acquisitions such as Eugenio Suarez, Eduardo Rodriguez, and the re-signing of Lourdes Gurriel Jr. position the Diamondbacks favorably to build on their 2023 success.

Moreover, Kendrick has reiterated his commitment to enhancing Chase Field, evident in the recent installation of new speakers and LED lights in centerfield.

Fans should take note of Kendrick’s assurance that “We aren’t having those conversations” regarding the possibility of the Diamondbacks relocating.
