Sunnyslope Keeps It Rolling

The Vikings (6-2) have picked it up since their 53-52 win against Perry in a state championship rematch. They have now won four straight and gained the momentum needed to make a run.

Sophomore guard John Mattingly dominated for the Vikings, scoring 36 points on 78% from the field. He is averaging over 20 points per game and leading the team to victories.

Sunnyslope is coming off an incredible season where they made a run to the state’s first open division championship as the No. 10 seed.

They have proven to be able to beat any team in the state when performing at their best and should undoubtedly be considered a championship contender once again.

Brophy Continues To Struggle

After beginning the season with five straight victories, Brophy has lost four out of its last five games.

The team is coming off a season where they entered the open state playoffs as the No. 6 seed but fell short in the second round to Basha.

The Broncos will attempt to turn it around despite the recent struggles and enter the playoffs with some much-needed momentum.

Up Next

No. 5 ranked Sunnyslope have an immensely difficult matchup ahead as they face the 11-1 Damien Spartans at ‘The Classic at Damien’ in California. This gives the Vikings experience against one of the best teams in the entire state of California.

Brophy next matches up against 11-2 and No. 6 ranked Notre Dame Prep Saints of Scottsdale. Against yet another elite team, the Broncos will look to put an end to their losing streak.

Keep an eye on both teams as they can make some real noise come playoff time.
