The Blue Devils (11-0) have been on a different level than any other team in the state this season.
They have outscored opponents a ridiculous 72-8 through 11 games and have scored at least six goals in all but two games to start the season.
Great start for our boys!! 67 goals for, 8 against.
Top ranked team in the state, in the country! Hoping college coaches start to take notice. All kids don't have to be recruited through club. Some kids don't have that money and they grind in a different way. Check us out— Sunnyside Boys Soccer (@SoccerSunnyside) December 20, 2023
The team has looked significantly better than they did last season where they finished 14-5-1 and were knocked out in the quarterfinals by the eventual champions Perry Pumas.
Sunnyside has quickly turned itself into the No. 1 ranked team in Arizona and should be considered a championship favorite as of right now.
Team Effort
Sunnyside has greatly benefited from the consistency of its players this season.
Four different players on the team have socred double digit goals on the year. The team’s top two goal scorers junior midfielder/forward Angel Bracamontes and junior midfielder Johan Jimenez also have double-digit assists as well.
This is one of if not the most complete team in the state and they’ve proved to be able to dominate night in and night out.
Next Up
The Blue Devils next match up against the 8-1 Ironwood Eagles on Wednesday, Dec. 27 @ 11:30 a.m.
The Eagles are currently the No. 5 ranked team in the entire state, making it one of the biggest matchups in the state thus far in the season.
Sunnyside last won a championship in 2019 and will look to replicate that this season.
Here is my recap of Weds night's 5A boys soccer title match between Tucson Sunnyside and Gilbert Campo Verde. The Blue Devils shut out the defending champion Coyotes in a 4-0 rout. https://t.co/EPh0ADJ42D
