Teams will no longer be able to rest two star players in the same game. Additionally, teams also need to ensure that star players are available for nationally televised and in-season tournament games if they are not injured.

The NBA defines a star player as a player who has made an All-Star or All-NBA Team in the past three seasons.

Durant last made the All-Star game in 2023, Booker made the All-Star and All-NBA team in 2022 and Beal was an All-Star in 2021.

Teams that violate this rule will be fined $100k for the first offense, $250k for the second time and $1 million more for each violation.

The Suns were not really resting players until the end of the year last season. However, they will have to be mindful of this new rule moving forward.
