© Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

On Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Angels placed a plethora of players on the waiver wires after a 12-7 loss at the hands of the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Angeles unloaded five players onto the waiver wire. Including the likes of Lucas Giolito, Matt Moore, Reynaldo Lopez, Randal Grichuk and Hunter Renfroe.

When asked about the surprising move the Angels made Lovullo said, “I know our front office does a really good job every single day.”  He also added that the front office is always looking to make the team better.

Who do we think they go for?

Hunter Renfroe has been a very serviceable outfielder in the MLB the past couple years. looking at Renfroe’s baseball reference page, you wonder why he can’t find a home. Renfroe isn’t a very good hitter for average, but he gets on base and hits bombs. In 2021, Renfroe hit 31 homers, 29 the year after. He also holds an OBP over .300 the past three seasons including this year. Those reasons being stated are exactly why I think the Diamondbacks should go after the outfielder to help get too, and perform in the playoffs.

Matt Moore could also be a great veteran presence in the Diamondbacks majority young bullpen. On the year Moore has appeared in 40 games, pitching 43 innings. Moore has given up just 11 hits in that time period and holds a 3-1 record. Moore is just the guy you want to see coming in to the game in a relief situation.

Who do we think they stay away from?

Firstly, Lucas Goilito. In his six starts for the Angels Giolito hasn’t allowed less than three runs, and has not pitched more than six innings. Giolito is not a bad pitcher at all, he just isn’t what the Diamondbacks need right now. Arizona has multiple starters that they hold a lot of trust in.
