Despite suffering a 9-1 loss to the Dodgers on Tuesday night, Diamondbacks rookie Corbin Carroll etched himself further into the history books with a home run off Clayton Kershaw in the fifth inning.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! For starters, Clayton Kershaw has only allowed two home runs to lefty batters this season, and it just so happens that both of these home runs have come off the bat of Corbin Carroll.
The last time Carroll went yard off Kershaw was April 7th. Overall, the rookie is 4-7 with two home runs and three RBIs against the future Hall of Famer this season.
However, it gets even more impressive.
Corbin’s latest home run against Kershaw came on a curveball, which is highly regarded as the toughest pitch to hit as a left-handed batter in the MLB.
In fact, Carroll’s home run on Tuesday was just the third that Clayton Kershaw has allowed on his curveball against lefties in his career, as pointed out by @CespedesBBQ.
before tonight, Clayton Kershaw had thrown his signature curveball 1,153 times to LHHs in his career (regular season + playoffs)
this is just the 3rd time it's been hit for a HR, joining Charlie Blackmon (2019) and Matt Adams (2014 NLDS Game 4)pic.twitter.com/JByFsed5ei

Not bad for a rookie.
