PHOENIX — After not showing up to Monday’s game and a week filled with speculation and uncertainty, the Arizona Diamondbacks and Ketel Marte spoke about the situation Thursday.

According to Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro, the All-Star second baseman, his agent, manager Torey Lovullo and general manager Mike Hazen got together at Salt River Fields to discuss the situation that has consumed baseball conversation. Although no exact details were revealed about the meeting, Gambadoro described it as “productive.”

The meeting and updates come after a bizarre few days for the club and organization as a whole. Marte failed to show up to Fenway Park for Monday’s game and had not communicated with his manager or teammates. That led to plenty of discussion outside the Arizona media and fanbase, with many hoping Marte was alright while also asking him to take accountability for leaving his team when they needed him most.

Marte had left Boston to return to Phoenix for an MRI amid the series against the Boston Red Sox.

Then, late Thursday, Arizona Central’s Nick Piecoro reported that the team would be moving Marte off the restricted list and placing him on the 10-day injured list after MRIs showed some inflammation in his upper hamstring and the medial joint of his knee.

However, it’s expected that the All-Star will rejoin the team once he’s healthy.
