In recent seasons, an intriguing trend has swept through the league: not only are teams adopting fresh “city connect” uniforms, but they’re also embracing nostalgia with throwback days, proudly sporting jerseys from the early 2000s.

This past weekend, the Marlins, Rays, and Diamondbacks repped their throwback uniforms, leaving fans eager for more.

The Diamondbacks’ throwback uniforms, in particular, received an abundance of positive feedback.

Following his impressive six-inning shutout start, Diamondbacks ace Zac Gallen wasted no time taking to social media to share his genuine admiration for the pinstriped vests.

While affirming his openness to wearing the jerseys more often, Gallen initiated a Twitter poll to gauge the fans’ perspective on the matter.

The throwback jerseys secured a resounding victory with 91% support, easily beating the current red/black/teal combination.

However, Zac Gallen isn’t the sole advocate for repping the pinstripes more frequently.

According to Theo Mackie at the Arizona Republic, Diamondbacks’ outfielder Alek Thomas shared a similar perspective on the issue, stating:

“I think we push whoever’s in charge of doing the jerseys, I think we could get that changed,” “But I talked to somebody at a charity event we had before the season and I don’t think the purple was in the cards for next year. So I think with all the hype and everything around the jerseys this past series, maybe we could change their minds.”

Geraldo Perdomo also enthusiastically jumped on the throwback hype train.

“That’s the best uniform we have,”. “First of all, because we won a championship with those uniforms. And secondly, the color is so nice. I think we should be wearing it more next year. It’s gotta be part of us every day at home. I think they have to bring it back. Same with the gray and purple (road uniforms), I think that’s the best.”

Lastly, Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo added his thoughts:

“I’m a big fan of the color, period. And then I remember when there were some gun shows back in the late ’90s when these guys were all flexed up and with no sleeves. I think it’s a great look. It’s traditional old-school baseball and I love that.”

Is it time for the Diamondbacks to bring back these iconic uniforms?
