For the Mercury, this is the Storm’s fourth win against them this season and the team is starting to become a kryptonite for the squad.

Sophie Cunningham stood out for the Mercury as she dropped 25 points in 35 minutes and shot 53% from the floor while drilling 4 threes on the afternoon.

Britney Griner and Diana Taurasi struggled on offense as both players combined 8-25 which is good for 32% on the floor.

Outside of Cunningham hitting 4 threes, the Mercury had a tough time scoring from deep. They only made 5 total threes and shot 22% from the floor.

The Mercury ended up racking up 16 turnovers which kept them in the game. However, a lack of point production from the bench, as well as a lack of 3-point shooting, kept the Mercury from taking the lead majority of the second half.

Jewell Loyd was the player of the game for the Seattle Storm as she scored 24 points and the Storm shot 47% from three-point range.

The Mercury will now look to get back in the win column on Friday against the New York Liberty as they’re now 5 spots below the 8th seed.
