ASU forward Devan Cambridge announced on Friday that he is transferring to Pac-12 conference foe, Oregon, after one season with the Sun Devils.
Significant #ASU/ Pac-12 news. Cambridge was a key all-around player for the Sun Devils last season and now takes his talents in-conference to Oregon. https://t.co/QOxX0JHQ7Z

With this being Cambridge’s second time transferring, he said that he will be a grad transfer. However, there are some reports that he’s not eligible to be a grad transfer, and if so, he will have to apply for a waiver to play next season under the new NCAA rules. Some speculate the way he will do this is by saying he’s moving closer to home.
Of course, they didn't. NIL fueled the decision by Cambridge after telling ASU he would be back. During this sign of disrespect will claim on his waiver for immediate eligibility that he's transferring to Oregon to be closer to home. Spoiler alert: Eugene isn't closer to home. https://t.co/y6eNdrw4lM

Cambridge, listed at 6-foot-6, transferred to ASU from Auburn before last season with his brother Devan. He started 35 of 36 games for the Sun Devils, averaging a career-high 9.8 points per game and proving to be an elite defensive presence. He originally said he was coming back to the Sun Devils after this season, but a few weeks later announced he was entering the portal.
Cambridge’s commitment comes after he visited Oregon last week. He also visited his former school, Auburn, before making this decision. In an interview with DuckTerritory.com, he said, “I can take my game to the next level and get to the pros,” with Oregon.
Devan Cambridge is not going to improve his NBA stock at Oregon vs ASU. It’s a silly thing to say and also somewhat disrespectful to a coaching staff just featured him so prominently on an NCAA Tournament team and would have done so again. https://t.co/0Xa6qOHsUj

Oregon’s Jermaine Couisnard and N’Faly Dante were the two biggest recruiters for Cambridge committing to the Ducks, he told Duck Territory. He had 14 points and five rebounds in a blowout victory over the Ducks in January, and he recorded eight points in a loss to them in early February.
Cambridge is the third Sun Devil to announce he’s transferring elsewhere in the past two days, fourth this week and fifth overall. Duke Brennan and Malcolm Flaggs announced they were both transferring to GCU yesterday, second-leading scorer DJ Horne signed with NC State earlier this week and Enoch Boakye transferred to Fresno State early last week. Austin Nunez is the only Sun Devil left in the portal.
The Sun Devils have brought in four transfers themselves this offseason, as they look to move forward after the loss of many key players from last season’s NCAA Tournament team, like Cambridge.
