The Clippers, 43-38, pose as a likely first-round matchup for the Suns in the playoffs. The lineup scenario won’t be visible on Sunday, however, with Phoenix sitting all of their starters.

The Clippers are without Paul George, who could possibly miss the playoffs as well. Kawhi Leonard is the remaining start of LA’s duo.

Leonard wasn’t able to help much for the Clippers in the first half, as the Suns lead 53-48 at halftime.

Landale Provides Scoring

The Suns are sitting Deandre Ayton tonight as part of the starters resting. Bismack Biyombo is also out after sustaining a knee injury against the Los Angeles Lakers.

With that, Jock Landale was the sole big man remaining at the center position for Phoenix. He was effective during the first half, scoring 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting. He also had five rebounds.

Landale’s style of play leans more to being offensively-capable, while Biyombo can shore up the defense for the reserves.

Darius Bazley Produces for the Bench

Bazley’s addition to Phoenix has taken a backstep with head coach Monty Williams figuring out which pieces can be successful in the rotation.

He contributed seven points and six rebounds during the first half. He also recorded one block.

Bazley has played sparingly since arriving in Phoenix. Prior to getting minutes against the Lakers, the 6’8″ forward hadn’t played in the last six games.

Winning the contest doesn’t have much of an implication for the Suns. It will, however, help decide the fate of their opponents for the first round.

Aside from the Clippers, the Golden State Warriors have a chance to take the fifth seed. If the Clippers were to lose, along with the Warriors winning against the Portland Trail Blazers, the Warriors would be the Suns’ opponent in the first round.
