Cardinals’ hire Drew Petzing as offensive coordinator

Cardinals Super Bowl Odds

The hiring of Drew Petzing as the Cardinals’ new offensive coordinator cements a bid for one of the youngest coaching staffs…ever.

Combined between their head coach, defensive coordinator, and offensive coordinator, there is an average age of just below 35.

However, although Drew Petzing is fairly young, he offers plenty of NFL experience.

One of his roles included being the Minnesota Vikings’ offensive assistant coach in 2014 and their wide receivers coach in 2016. This was followed by a year as the Browns’ tight ends coach, and then as their quarterbacks coach last season.

Jonathan Gannon, Arizona’s head coach, spoke very highly of Petzing during his initial interviews. Gannon managed to find his preferred DC and OC within a matter of two days.

With this new spree of hirings, the Cardinals now have a first-time general manager, a first-time head coach, a first-time offensive coordinator, and a first-time defensive coordinator.

It is truly remarkable, but will it work?

We will have to wait and see.
