Arizona has been able to rely on a couple of their stars while they deal with certain injuries on this road trip. Corbin Carroll and Gabriel Moreno are both sidelined for now, though Ketel Marte and Eugenio Suárez have been putting the extra workload on their shoulders. Suárez hit another home run again, as he has been on an absolute tear. Marte went 4-for-4 on Saturday including two doubles with an RBI.

Merrill Kelly didn’t go unscathed but had a decent day on the mound as he pitched six innings while only giving up two earned runs on six hits. This D-Backs bullpen has had a rejuvenation as of late. Some of these arms coming out of the bullpen have been lost beyond belief, though recently have shown some promise. Ryan Thompson, Jalen Beeks, and Shelby Miller each pitched an inning and between the three of them only allowed one hit and no earned runs.

Colorado was able to punch back at times on Saturday, though were unable to overcome a 5-3 deficit after Geraldo Perdomo hit a much-needed two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning. Perdomo who has struggled at the plate as of late, had a sense of relief watching that ball fly into the seats at Coors Field.

The D-Backs will now look to take the series against the Rockies and will go for the sweep on Sunday afternoon.
