“Is it season yet? Because I cannot wait!” Miller said, smiling as she addressed a packed room at Papago Golf Club.

ASU President Michael M. Crow was the first speaker, giving a statement expressing his excitement for what Miller brings to the team, the community, and the broader growth of women’s basketball in Phoenix.

Athletic Director Graham Rossini was second to speak, praising Miller’s leadership and commitment. “She saw it as more than just a job,” Rossini said. “She has proven time and time again she can lead teams to championship outcomes, and we are confident she can do that here at ASU.”

Finally, the spotlight was on Miller. She started with giving thanks, even mentioning the president and athletic director at Grand Canyon University, her previous school. Miller cracked jokes throughout and kept the mood lighthearted, but made it clear she is ready to work.

She emphasized her commitment to excellence on and off the court, saying, “I want to make a meaningful impact, on the court and off the court, and reflect ASU’s mission.” Miller added, “It started with this [at Drury], and I’ve taken it with me—the phrase ‘More Than Champion.’ I want to be elite in everything we do.”

Coach Miller also credited the vision of ASU’s leadership as a key factor in her decision to take the job. “It was the vision that sold me,” she said. “The commitment to athletics and women’s basketball really made it clear that I belonged here.”

As ASU athletics continues to rise—boasting 13 of 26 programs in the top 25 and four Big 12 championships under their belt—Miller is eager to build something special. For now, her focus is on laying the foundation, hitting the recruiting trail, and setting the tone for the program’s future.
