TEMPE – The rumors have been spiraling all month, but it has finally been confirmed by multiple reports that Arizona State women’s basketball has found its next head coach in GCU’s Molly Miller. The Lopes’ head coach is coming off a 32-2 2024 season, where the program made its first NCAA tournament bid. ASU had an opening after firing Natasha Adair at the end of this year after a 10-22 season.

Talia Goodman announcing ASU’s signing of Miller:

The signing has not been announced by ASU, but the deal could be finalized very soon. Miller is a decorated college basketball coach, starting in Division Two with her alma mater, Drury University. She led the Panthers to a 67-1 record from 2018-2020. Miller’s success with Drury allowed for his first head coaching job in Division One with Grand Canyon University.

The 38-year-old head coach has led the Lopes to four straight 20+ win seasons and set a program record with 32 wins this year. The Sun Devils haven’t had a 20-win season since 2019-2020, which will be the expectation that Miller brings to a struggling program. ASU has had five straight losing seasons, finishing in the penultimate spot in its first season in the Big 12 this year.

Miller is a major hire for the Sun Devils and will revive a failing program back to the higher standards left by former coaches before like Charli Turner Thorne.
