Four-time NBA All-Star Devin Booker passed Walter Davis to become the Phoenix Suns all-time leading scorer with a 3-point shot from the left wing in the third quarter against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Davis held the top spot on the Suns’ leaderboard for 37 years. He spent 11 seasons with in Phoenix and played 766 games with the franchise before leaving them in free agency and joining the Denver Nuggets in 1988. Davis, who passed in November of 2023, was a Hall of Famer, six-time All-Star, two-time All-NBA selection and was the 1977-78 Rookie of the Year.
“My memories of Walter Davis was just a sweet jump shot,” Suns coach Mike Budenholzer, who grew up a Suns fan in Holbrook, AZ, said of Davis. “A guy that could pull up off the dribble and just feathery smooth. I remember how it went through the net. Book has some of those same qualities.”
Booker has averaged 24.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game in 641 games ahead of their matchup with the Trail Blazers tonight.

Not only has Booker become the franchise-leading scorer, but he has cemented his name in Arizona sports history. His No. 1 jersey is a staple of the Valley area and will one day hang in the rafters of the Footprint Center.
