Carroll exited mid-game after appearing to favor his back during an at-bat in what appeared to be a precautionary move.

The injury adds another brief setback for Carroll, who recently dealt with minor hip flexor tightness a few weeks ago against the New York Mets. That issue forced him out of a game but did not result in a stint on the injured list. The club is now awaiting further information on the severity of this latest concern.

Carroll entered Sunday’s matchup amid a strong offensive surge, coming off a go-ahead grand slam that lifted Arizona to a 6-1 victory over Toronto on Saturday.

The outfielder is hitting .309 with a 1.108 OPS, showcasing his immense impact so far this season.

The Diamondbacks have yet to provide additional updates on Carroll’s status or whether the injury is considered serious, as the club continues its push in the National League West standings.
