The Diamondbacks have signed their first drafted player from the 2024 class, as Paul Halfacre from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Tytus Cissell will forego his commitment to play for the University of Missouri and will sign with Arizona.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Cissell, 18, was drafted by the Diamondbacks in the fourth round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of Francis Howell High School, becoming the 16th player in program history to be selected in the MLB Draft. Cissell is a switch hitter who hits better from the left side of the plate with plus speed and the range to play shortstop. MLB Pipeline ranked him as the No. 234 overall prospect in the draft.
“My dream has always been to play professional baseball,” Cissell told Halfacre. “I got the right opportunity and Arizona is going to do a great job developing me.”
Terms of the deal that Cissell plans to sign for have yet to be reported. The 132nd overall pick carries a $535.8K slot value.
