In the summer of 2020, the world found itself at a crossroads. Streets across America reverberated with voices demanding justice and equality, a testament to the enduring fight against racial injustice.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The echoes of these calls reached every corner of society, including the hallowed halls of UCLA, where a select group of student-athletes seized the opportunity to amplify their voices during these troubled times.
Among them was former UCLA Bruin and current Phoenix Mercury rookie Charisma Osborne, who, in 2020, joined forces with her UCLA teammates to establish the ‘More Than a Dream’ initiative. This movement aimed to peacefully protest and educate others on themes of Black excellence and racial injustice.
Central to their efforts was ‘Bruin Table Talk’, a show where they interviewed prominent Black UCLA alumni such as Gabrielle Union, Baron Davis, and Earl Watson. Through these conversations, they provided a platform for alumni to share their experiences and educate others.
Over time, Osborne grew increasingly comfortable using her platform as a voice for change in her community.
Osborne discussed what it means to be a voice, as well as her WNBA journey thus far, her on-court demeanor, and much more.
