Kahleah Copper’s game-winning 3-pointer to close out the Phoenix Mercury versus Minnesota Lynx can be argued as the best shot across the WNBA this season. Not only did Copper create a moment that will be remembered throughout the course of the season, she also closed out the game down the stretch, ending the contest with 34-points.

The Mercury’s social media team took the time to compile just a few of the many social media reactions Copper received. You can see replies from Kevin Durant (@easymoneysniper), Mercury point guard Natasha Cloud (@T_Cloud4), and two well-renowned journalists praising Copper for her impact.
Many fans also had some intriguing comments.
Def in the running for MVP.
— 18+ (@JeremiahCannad1) June 8, 2024
This account said that Copper was “definitely in the running for MVP,” and rightfully so. Copper is averaging a career-high 23.5 points per game in her first season with the Mercury, and has consistently fueled the fire for an up-and-down Mercury squad.
Another interesting reply:
Paul George game winner vs Minnesota.
— tae (@onequantae) June 8, 2024
A fan compared Copper’s game-winner over the Lynx to a “Paul George game-winner versus Minnesota.” The Lynx were compared to the Timberwolves, for obvious reasons. However, a Paul George, Kahleah Copper comparison is pretty spot-on given Copper’s current stretch. Both bigger, skilled wings who excel at attacking downhill and have an added smoothness to their games that makes them a captivating watch.

All it takes is one second of hesitation and Copper is taking the handoff from Griner. Great sideline out-of-bounds (SLOB) set
— Shane Young (@YoungNBA) June 8, 2024
This tweet by Forbes Sports writer and analyst Shane Young broke down some of the X’s and O’s behind the sideline out-of-bounds set that head coach Nate Tibbetts drew up. All of the credit has gone to Copper for both her shot and her performance, and rightfully so. However, Young gives credit to Tibbetts, Sophie Cunningham and Brittney Griner for helping execute this set.
Copper has been a mainstay in WNBA media today, and if she continues to wreak havoc, those MVP talks could become very real as the season progresses.
