While the news of ASU Men’s Basketball securing five-star recruit Joson Sanon was a bombshell on Wednesday night, the aftermath of the move saw a Sun Devil signee rethink and will explore his options.

On his Instagram account, highly-regarded power forward Sammie Yeanay announced that he has de-committed from Arizona State but the school is still one that he is considering playing for.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to reopen my college recruitment,” Yeanay said. “Arizona State is still an option, but I would like to explore all my current options. Thank you coach Bobby Hurley, the ASU coaching staff that recruited me, and everyone in my corner supporting me.”

With college transfers Basheer Jihad and Brandon Gardner and high school prospect Amier Ali at forward alongside five-star recruit Jayden Quaintance and Shawn Phillips Jr. at center, the depth of the Sun Devils’ frontcourt has been bolstered significantly. As a result of this talented group of players coming to ASU, Yeanay putting his name back out for recruitment was a possibility that has now become a reality.

Yeanay is ranked as a four-star recruit by 247Sports and No. 90 of ESPN’s Top-100 basketball recruits from the class of 2024. The Chandler native played this past season at Compass Prep and had offers on the table from Alabama, Florida, Houston, Ohio, Virginia Tech, Washington State and Texas Tech before his original signing with the Sun Devils.

Now that he is open to joining another school, it will be just a matter of time until universities across the country start calling the 6-foot-8, 230-pound Yeanay.

Hurley’s recruiting before the program’s debut in the Big 12 Conference has been huge, landing fourth on 247Sportstop recruiting classes of this year. The additions of Quainatance and Sanon have seen the Sun Devils sit just behind Duke, Alabama and Rutgers.
