For the Phillies, it will be Zach Wheeler, who would’ve pitched game 5 of the NLDS had it come to that in Game 1. Then, it will be Aaron Nola, who pitched games 1 and 4 of the series versus the Braves. He comes alive in the playoffs.
For the Diamondbacks, Zac Gallen, the ace, was in Cy Young consideration in Game 1. Then, they will bring in Merrill Kelly, who pitched game 1 of the NLDS.
So, finally, we will have the battle of the Zac in game 1, with Zac Gallen facing Zach Wheeler. Then, we will have Merrill Kelly versus Aaron Nola in game 2. Both of these games will be in Philly, one of the country’s hardest pitching locations, in October. Kelly and Gallen will have never been in that atmosphere before, and they will have to completely block it out to go against one of the best offenses in baseball, who only hit home runs in October.
