GLENDALE – The Arizona Cardinals lost their RB1 and RB2 due to injury why not go for the hat trick. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday that running back Emari Demercado is doubtful to play in Week 12 vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars via a high ankle sprain. Demercado suffered the injury last week vs. the San Francisco 49ers and had to exit midgame.

Demercado unlikely to play via ankle injury:
Despite the injuries to starters James Conner and Trey Benson, Demercado remained in his role as a third-down back behind Michael Carter and Bam Knight. The 26-year-old has had a solid season with a huge blemish shadowing over him. The dropped touchdown run at the one-yard-line in Week 5 vs. the Tennessee Titans had fans calling for Demercado to be cut.
However, he remained on the team, and has had solid performances since his blunder. In Week 9 he had 79 rushing yards and the following week had 104 total scrimmage yards. In his third season with the Cardinals, Demercado has some of his best games with the franchise in the past couple of weeks, but this run has been put on hold with the ankle injury.

Arizona will need to sign another third-down back in case another injury strikes Knight or Carter in Week 12. The best case scenario is if Benson is healthy enough to return off injury reserve and come back in a limited reps role. However, head coach Jonathan Gannon has kept Benson’s status close to his chest, so his timetable is unknown.
Cardinals WR Michael Wilson historic day in Week 11 shouldn’t be a surprise
