GLENDALE – Sunday’s Week 11 lost to the San Francisco 49ers was a roller coaster of emotional for the Arizona Cardinals. On the rise, quarterback Jacoby Brissett set an NFL record for completion with 47 and wide receiver Michael Wilson set a career-high and nearly a franchise record in catches and receiving yards. On the descent, Arizona was once again blown out by a division rival, this time at home, and had a franchise record 17 penalties.

Petzing praises Brissett for performance in Week 11:
“I think it’s been very impressive. He completed 82% of his passes, NFL record 47 competitions. Anytime you’re doing that at the quarterback position you’re doing a lot of things really well. That’s not just him, that’s protection, that’s getting open and making tough catches…I think it speaks to everyone in that room and all parties involved.”

The quarterback controversy in the Valley has been a tiring hot discussion over the past couple months. Despite one’s opinion on the matter, it’s undeniable to not acknowledge Brissett’s production since taking the job under center. Petzing made sure to praise the 32-year-old before pointing out his weakness, talking about how him and the offense needs to be better preventing turnovers.
In Week 10, Brissett fumbled twice leading to two touchdowns, and the following week he threw two interceptions leading to 10 San Francisco points. Petzing stated that limiting turnovers should be in the “forefront” of what the team does moving forward.
Removing the turnovers from the past two weeks, makes the game much more interesting towards the final stretch. In Arizona’s final seven games, Petzing is making that aspect the team’s main focus and is hoping his 10-year veteran is able to deliver on that goal.
