GLENDALE – As months of negotiations pass, the Arizona Cardinals and Jacoby Brissett remain in a standstill. The 10-year-pro is looking for a new reworked deal, after a career-year last season. ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss reported on Friday that the two sides are not even close on any sort of agreement on a contract for the 2026 season. The 33-year-old is only projected to make $1.5 million in guaranteed money, which after his production in 2025 is quite low.

Weinfuss on Brissett and Cardinals not close on new deal:

“After months of negotiating, quarterback Jacoby Brissett and the Cardinals are still not close to reaching an agreement on a reworked deal for this season. A source told ESPN that the two sides are “significantly” far apart.

“The gap in the negotiations puts into question whether Brissett will report to the Cardinals for next week’s OTAs. Arizona will hold a mandatory minicamp for veterans and rookies June 8-10.”

Despite going 1-11 in his games as a starter, Brissett overperformed his situation by being ranked the NFL’s top-ranked passer from Week 6 and on. His 3,366 passing yards and 23 touchdowns helped unlock key offensive players. Wide receiver Michael Wilson became the first wide receiver since DeAndre Hopkins to get 1000-yard season, while Trey McBride had 11 touchdowns after only six in his career.

Brissett is rightfully due a payday, especially with the franchise telling him that he’ll be the starter in late March, following the Kyler Murray release. Since then, the Cardinals signed Gardner Minshew and drafted Carson Beck in the third-round. The organization is clearly playing for life without Brissett if his demands remain as high as they had.
