GLENDALE – After a 3-14 season, it isn’t shocking that some people would want off the sinking ship that is the Arizona Cardinals. The franchise just fired its head coach and released its seven-year quarterback. The recent turmoil has led to some X accounts of lesser known reporters trying to get a scoop, with writer of Packers Report Easton Butler chiming in. Butler posted on Tuesday that Cardinals edge Josh Sweat had requested a trade, a report that was almost immediately shut down by a teammate.

Team captain and linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. chimed in and quoted the post with a simple, one-word response: “Cap.”

Wilson responds to Sweat report:

Last season was Wilson’s second season in Arizona and has already became an integral piece to the defense. The 28-year-old had already become team captain and Mike linebacker for defensive coordinator Nick Rallis. Before injuries derailed his 2025 campaign, Wilson had the defense as a top 10 scoring defense through the first eight weeks.

After suffering an injury in Week 9  vs. the Dallas Cowboys, the defense allowed 36+ point six times in the final nine weeks. Other injuries played a part, but Wilson’s absence had a serious impact. The seven-year pro’s impact on and off the field has proven to be important to being a team leader around the locker room, proving it again on social media on Tuesday.
