Seattle wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba sees a familiar edge in Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson as the Sun Devils wide receiver begins the NFL draft process. Much like Smith-Njigba in 2023, Tyson is projected as a potential first-round pick this year, standing out in a crowded receiver class because he combines competitiveness and playmaking ability.
“He’s explosive, he’s a great player,” Smith-Njigba said to Devils Digest’s Justin LaCertosa on Opening Night for Super Bowl LX. “He definitely can make plays all around the field, you can line him up everywhere. He’s definitely going to be a guy I continue to watch.”

Tyson emerged as one of the Big 12’s most dynamic pass catchers during his two years as a Sun Devil, highlighted by a breakout 2024 season in which he totaled 75 receptions for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns. Combined with a solid 2025 campaign, Tyson put himself on the national radar and declared for the NFL draft following the regular season.
Smith-Njigba’s comments only reinforce what many in Tempe already know about Tyson. His ability to make difficult catches, play with consistent effort and fit within an offense has made him one of the most desirable receivers in his class.

With one win separating Seattle from a championship, Smith-Njigba taking time to acknowledge an Arizona State product before the Super Bowl highlights the growing attention surrounding the Sun Devils program.
As Tyson begins his transition from the Valley to the NFL, it is clear his time at ASU has positioned him as a player to watch on draft night.
