Booker on relationship with Fitzgerald:
Booker was drafted by the Suns in 2015 and quickly learn the power Fitzgerald had in Arizona. At this point, the 42-year-old was about to enter his 11th season and had been the staple of professional sports in the Valley. One couldn’t go outside without seeing that white 11. The work on and off the field made him a role model for all future athletes that come to the state, which Booker took notice. Fitzgerald welcomed him from day one and took the Hall of Famer’s mentality to heart.

As one legend ends, another one works towards that goal. In modern times, an Arizonan can’t go outside without seeing a white No. 1 jersey for Booker. The 29-year-old has inherited the responsibility that Fitzgerald left in his retirement and soared. Booker has built basketball courts across the Valley and donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the community. While his play on the court has been special, the greatest attribute that Booker took from Fitzgerald was the work in his community.
While it’s hard to replace Larry Legend, All-NBA guard has done a hell of a job trying.
