Arizona State targeting an Alabama Wolf LB in NCAA transfer portal

The Sun Devils have now added a running back and a defensive back.

David Avit, a former Villanova standout, has committed to Arizona State from the portal. The 6-foot, 225-pounder tallied 687 yards rushing and eight touchdowns on 125 carries last season. He totaled nearly 1,000 yards in 2024 with 923 and nine scores on 173 attempts. Avit posted five 100+ yard outings for his career, so his experience and productivity is needed in Tempe, Ariz.

He takes over for the departed Raleek Brown.

Caleb Chester, a former Texas cornerback, made ASU his transfer destination. The 6-foot-1, 179-pounder played in one matchup for the Longhorns in 2025. He excelled at Fort Bend Marshall High School, amassing 42 tackles, eight pass breakups, and an interception for his career. Chester did not get an opportunity in the Lone Star state, so maybe ASU is better for him.

Keith Abney II is a talented defensive back that ASU loses to the NFL Draft.

Chester could possibility give the program what it is losing in Abney’s departure.
