The night felt set for redemption in Phoenix. Down by one, 7.3 seconds left, and Devin Booker ran to get a three off with space to rise. Booker’s shot didn’t fall, and the Phoenix Suns have fallen to 1-4 to start the season.

This one cuts deeper for Suns fans. Both Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks, two of the Suns’ offseason acquisitions meant to bring energy and edge, have been sidelined, with Green yet to make his debut for Phoenix. Green will surely be a game-changer and difference maker when he gets out there alongside Booker. Without them, Phoenix’s spacing shrank, its defense softened, and the offense became predictable at times. Booker was able to drop 32 on Wednesday night, and has now scored 30-plus points in four of Phoenix’s five games this season, including three-straight.

Yet, even in a loss, there’s a silver lining. The Suns’ potential remains immense when healthy. Booker’s leadership, Green’s spark, and Brooks’ toughness form a foundation worth patience. This wasn’t just a loss; it was a mirror. For Phoenix to evolve from talented to terrifying, it must rediscover trust when the moment tightens. The missed shot will fade. The lesson shouldn’t.
