GLENDALE – The return of Arizona Cardinals starting quarterback Kyler Murray comes in at an odd time for the franchise. Currently at 2-5, the team’s offense has looked it’s best in the past two weeks in Murray’s absence. Many give the credit to backup Jacoby Brissett and his production for the team’s reason offensive success.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Fans have been hesitant to welcome back Murray with open arms because of Brissett’s two starts, where he threw for 599 passing yards, four touchdowns and one interception. However, the seven-year Cardinals quarterback is healthy and ready to reclaim his starting role. Despite outside concerns, offensive coordinator believes that next week will be similar to the past two matchups.

Petzing’s perspective of Murray’s return:
Petzing believes the offense won’t change dramatically, which is hard to believe seeing Brissett’s numbers compared to Murray. In the first five weeks, Murray had one game over passing over 200 yards, while Brissett smashed that number in his two starts. Arizona’s offense became the best third-down conversion teams in the NFL under Brissett.
Murray is averaging a career low in passing yards per game (192.4). The offense was not clicking to start the year with the 28-year-old, injuries to running backs James Conner and Trey Benson in a run-heavy offense will hurt its production. The last two weeks could’ve been Petzing finally figuring out how to succeed without his top running backs, or a realization of Murray’s shortcomings.

In Week 9 vs. the Dallas Cowboys, Murray looks to prove its the former against the worst defense in the league. With the team’s record and the drama surround him, Monday’s start is make or break for Murray to prove he’s still worthy of his massive contract. Petzing is confident not much will change with Murray’s return, hopefully the only change for Arizona is pulling out a win.
