GLENDALE – Following the 22-21 loss to the Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon spoke about the many plays that led to the 18-point collapse. When asked about the viral moment of running back Emari Demercado dropping the ball at the goal line to forgo a game-sealing touchdown, Gannon responded calmly and stated that one play doesn’t lose the game.

However, sideline footage of Gannon’s live reaction shows a much more understandable heated reaction from him to Demercado. The footage shows the third-year Cardinals coach getting in the face of Demercado and bumping into him.

Video of Gannon’s interaction with Demercado on the sideline:

The last swing could be interpreted as a pat on the chest, signaling to Demercado to make up for his unacceptable mistake. That would be positive thinking, as many fans on social media has called for the 26-year-old to be cut from the team for the costly mistake.

Injuries will likely mean that Demercado will remain on the team for the time being, as Arizona has struggled to find healthy running backs in the lineup. Gannon keeping the young halfback would also fit into his philosophy of not blaming one player for the loss. Regardless, the reaction from Gannon was visceral and could be the team’s three-straight losses started to boil over.
