GLENDALE – Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. has had a rough start to his sophomore season. After recording five catches for 71 yards in the season opener, he has identical total stats for the past two weeks vs. the Carolina Panthers and San Francisco 49ers. The past two weeks has been filled with analysts and fans being critical of the former fourth overall pick, that only intensified after a brutal drop by Harrison in Week 3.

Harrison emotional postgame after his drops:
The passion and work ethic is clearly present for Harrison, but the lack of production is too much of an eyesore. The 23-year-old is taking this hard, but he will have a chance on a national stage to right the ship against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football.
In his short career, Harrison is averaging 3.5 catches for 48 yards per game against Seattle. In 20 career games, he has only surpass 50 receiving yards eight times, a small amount for a top five pick wide receiver. However, it’s hard to blame the young wideout for the lack of yards, when he is only averaging 5.3 targets per game to start the season.

Offensive coordinator and play caller Drew Petzing is a more run-heavy offense and uses 13 personnel at a high frequency. The combination will lead to less usage from wide receiver, which so far looks to be a mistake. The Cardinals are 25th in total scrimmage yards and 20th in scoring.
Harrison is a young 6’4 monster at wide receiver but has only seen double digits targets three times in his career. It would be one thing for Arizona if the team was winning and the offense was struggling, but last week’s lost acts as a warning for this team’s future if it doesn’t invest in its top target.
The Cardinals haven’t beaten the Seahawks in four years and are facing public backlash for not using their star wide receiver. Arizona can kill two birds with one stone on Thursday, with a monster performance from Harrison against a talented Seattle defense.
