Thomas’ triple-double came with a little extra history.

The Mercury forward reached the triple-double mark at 21 minutes and 52 seconds, according to Hayden Cilley of ClutchPoints. Thomas surpassed Jessica Shepard, who previously held the record at 21:57, as the second-fastest player to record a triple-double in WNBA history. Courtney Williams holds the record for the fastest triple-double.

Thomas scored 10 points, with 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

“I don’t think it’s something I’m thinking about right now,” Thomas said post-game, according to the team’s recording. “I think when it’s all said and done, when I look back on my career, then I’ll reflect on it. But right now, it’s just doing me.”

Thomas continues to lead the league in triple-doubles this season, with more than the rest of the WNBA combined — the rest of the league has seven. She now has 23 triple-doubles in her entire career.

“[Thomas] impacts the game at a high level,” head coach Nate Tibbetts said, according to the team’s post-game recording. “She did it tonight in quick fashion and she’s just continued to do it, night after night.”

With each historic performance, Thomas continues to showcase why she is the league’s most complete player — and a potential MVP recipient.

The Phoenix Mercury will close the regular season on the road as they visit the Dallas Wings on Thursday, Sept. 11.

This story has been updated to correct that Courtney Williams holds the fastest triple-double in WNBA history, not Alyssa Thomas. Thomas has the second-fastest.
