Players’ Weekend allows MLB players to show their personalities through custom-made gear, with references to their personal lives or advocating for causes they believe in. While some players opted to use a pencil bat or pop culture references on their bats, Torkelson decided to represent Arizona State on the East Coast.

Torkelson, originally from Petaluma, California, played for Arizona State for three seasons, including a shortened 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During his time at Arizona State, the first baseman hit .337 with a 1.192 OPS, 130 RBIs and 54 home runs.

Dertorit drafted Torkelson in the 2020 MLB Draft as the first overall pick.
