PHOENIX – Former Phoenix Suns guard Bradley Beal didn’t hold back when explaining his move to the Los Angeles Clippers. In a recent interview, Beal said he needs one thing at this point in his NBA journey: “I need a ring.” (Credit: Tamar Sher | KMOV) A statement that left many Suns fans feeling like he had just taken a swipe at his former team, as it seemed he didn’t view that same opportunity with the Suns. That’s a bold stance considering the Suns were widely viewed as one of the NBA’s most dangerous teams when Beal arrived last season.

Playing alongside Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, Phoenix looked like a super team on paper. However, the reality was far from ideal as the Suns fell short, their lack of depth was exposed, and injuries continued to pile up. Beal himself averaged just 17.0 points a game, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists during the 2024-2025 NBA regular season, hardly the numbers of a player ready to carry a team to a title.

Bradley Beal also mentioned he was, “Excited about the opportunity, new city, new environment, but a hungry environment too. Definitely excited about the opportunity to go win.” (Credit: Tamar Sher | KMOV) Why would Beal think his championship chances improve with the Clippers? Los Angeles boasts stars like Kawhi Leonard and James Harden, but the Clippers have a history of playoff collapses and injury woes. The Clippers’ title window may be just as fragile as Phoenix’s, if not more so.

For Suns fans, Beal’s comments sting not only because he suggested Phoenix wasn’t good enough, but because Beal overlooked the role he played in the team’s struggles. It’s another reminder of the challenges facing the Suns, which is finding the right mix of talent, health, and chemistry.
