The Athletic’s Sabreena Merchant and Ben Pickman conducted an anonymous survey with approximately 40 veterans from all 13 teams on topics related to the league. One question that was asked among those surveyed was who they believed was the biggest trash-talker.

Thomas received 13 votes from those who chose to answer, while the second-most-voted player received five votes. The Phoenix forward replaces Mercury legend Diana Taurasi as the most voted in the category, as Taurasi was named the biggest trash-talker two years ago.

“[Thomas] smiles and talks s—, that’s the crazy part, it’s psycho stuff, she’s crazy, man,” one player said to The Athletic’s Chantel Jennings.

“Everyone knows [Thomas] talks s—. I don’t even guard her, and she talks s— to me,” another player said to Jennings.

Thomas is having a career year in her first season in Phoenix. She currently leads the league in assists with 142, averaging 9.5 a game. The All-Star is shooting a career-high 53.8% from the field.

Thomas and the Phoenix Mercury will play against the Golden State Valkyries on Monday, July 14.
