Nelson delivered one of his best outings of the season, throwing 6.2 scoreless innings and allowing just five hits. The right-hander leaned heavily on his four-seam fastball to keep San Francisco off balance and showcased why he remains a key arm in Arizona’s rotation.

Nelson made light work of the Giants hitters with the use of his four-seam fastball, and showed why he has been one of the best D-Backs pitchers in their rotation. Logan Webb was utilizing his sinker most of the time as he usually does, though was getting a lot of swing and misses with his sweeper later on in the game.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. was able to smash a sweeper deep into left field to give the D-Backs a 2-0 lead. Webb was visibly upset as Gurriel Jr. was happy to get the D-Backs an insurance run in.

Ryne Nelson was pulled with two outs in the seventh inning after a gem of a start, Juan Morillo entered and gave up a two-run double on the first pitch to Tyler Fitzgerald. Alek Thomas was unable to come away with a diving stop, as San Francisco tied the game up 2-2 after the bullpen problems continued. Arizona was able to go on a run in the bottom of the seventh though, as Geraldo Perdomo kicked it off by hitting a single to left to score Alek Thomas and give the D-Backs a 3-2 lead.

The eighth inning saw a fan interference after Christian Koss hit a deep fly ball into left field, Tim Tawa was unable to come away with the grab after a fan leaped onto and over the railing to interfere. Koss was awarded second base with one out, the fan was ejected, and the D-Backs avoided disaster after getting a couple outs afterwards to end the inning.

Eugenio Suárez hit his 26th home run of the year and gave the D-Backs a much needed insurance run and gave the Snakes some momentum entering the ninth inning.

Arizona escaped with a win by the score of 4-2, and broke their four-game losing streak. The D-Backs will now gear up for the second game of the four-game series against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night at Chase Field.
